what's up with the gen I? Did they produce something better?

edit....a local gun store is selling the non window ones for $25! And they want $30 for the window version!!! I ended up buying from Cheaper than Dirt for $14.

I found this comparison over on ar15.com. I think the main difference is that the mag dust cover snaps onto the baseplate of the mag so it doesn't get lost. Some posters said they like the texture of the Gen. 1 better. All of mine are the 1st Generation so I really can't say.

WOW! I would think if you show them thos they would replace them, else the power of the internet could be used to alert any potential buyers.

Gen 1 units were replaced for free when the issues surfaced about feeding. I do not know if PMag will still replace the units. I have some Gen 2 windowed PMags ( black) new in the bag; I would sell 10 for $$182 delivered.

That statement is far too broad. It would be correct if you added two words. "Some early Gen 1 units were replaced for free...."

There is a date code on each mag. Magazines produced before a certain date sometimes had issues. The company fixed the problem long ago. I went and checked on this sale on ar15.com. Lots of people buying boxes of these things. Date codes seemed to be mostly Jul 08. That is long after the issues were fixed.

There are no functional problems _at all_ with the Gen 1 mags like DS Arms is selling.

And you can do even better if you buy more. It is $89.95 for 10 with free shipping. But if you buy two packs you can use the $10 off coupon: AR1510off. So that's 20 brand new PMAG's in the plastic wrap for $170 including shipping! Amazing.

If you would look at the ar15.com link which I provided, you would see that it mainly means that you can't clip the little feed lip protector to the bottom.

I have a bunch of Pmags already. And every one of them is Gen 1 but made after the early date. So the ones I have now are what DS Arms is selling. I've been 100% happy with the ones I have. As the photo above shows, there are some external cosmetic changes but even in those cases, I prefer the older style. And I don't need or want a window in my mags!
